Kira Davenport has just won a Walter Grishkot Foundation Scholarship to help her spread her wings even farther as she heads off for more training towards becoming a corporate pilot. We congratulate her on her academic achievements as well as her community involvement and leadership and wish her well in her future.
Kira Davenport is a senior at Ballston Spa High School graduating this June. She has participated in the Clean Technologies and Sustainable Industries Early College High School Program since her freshman year. Throughout high school, Kira has taken all but five of the required college courses she needs to graduate from Hudson Valley Community College. After completing these five classes during the Summer and Fall 2023 semester she will graduate from HVCC with an A.A.S. in Clean Energy Management. In addition to her educational life, Kira began flight training in April of 2022 and has her Private Pilot checkride scheduled for May 30th. After receiving her Private Pilot’s License and graduating from HVCC she will work towards an aviation degree that will help her reach her goal of becoming a corporate pilot. Kira is also a Flight Sergeant in Civil Air Patrol (CAP), the United States Air Force Auxiliary. She uses her aeronautical knowledge to educate the cadets and help the next group of young pilots get started with their flying journey. She also encourages her cadets to have big dreams and work hard toward them just like she has. After she receives her Private Pilot Certificate she will also start training to be a pilot for CAP. In the future, Kira wants to have her own plane so she can share the experience of flying with friends and family on many adventures.
