2024 Grishkot Foundation Press Release
The Grishkot Foundation has announced the awarding of $42,500 of new scholarships and $17,500 of continuing scholarships for 18 students from Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties. The scholarships and were presented on Jun 5th at a meeting of the Glens Falls Kiwanis Club at The Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls, NY.
This year six winners received the primary award totaling up to $10,000 in scholarship funds and five secondary winners received a one-time $2,500 scholarship award.
Joan Grishkot Memorial Scholarship recipients for careers in nursing and related healthcare fields:
• Kathryn Gannon is a graduating senior at Queensbury High School who will be attending the University of South Carolina in the fall, majoring in biology with the intent of working in the medical field.
• Nicole Kingsley is a Lake George High School alumni who graduated from Plattsburgh State University in 2022. She will be attending an accelerated baccalaureate track nursing program at Binghamton University this May.
• Lindsey Pepe, a graduating senior at Queensbury High School who will attend Dartmouth College in the fall, majoring in Chemistry. She intends to go into the field of medical research.
• Jenna Smith acquired a bachelor’s degree from Empire State University and is currently a nursing student at SUNY Adirondack. She plans to continue her education to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
Honorable Mentions:
• Galen Britt, has worked as a technician for the operating room at Saratoga Hospital. He is a practical nursing student at The Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex (WSWHE) BOCES where he will graduate this June.
• Emeka Nwosu, has worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the last 8 years. He is a practical nursing student at The Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex (WSWHE) BOCES where he will graduate this June.
• Allyson Sheffield, a graduating senior at Queensbury High School who will be attending the University of Oklahoma in the fall, studying within the University's Honors College as a Health and Exercise Science Major.
• Taylor Van Ness is a student at SUNY Adirondack earning her bachelor's degree. She plans on becoming a physician’s assistant through the SUNY Upstate Syracuse program. Taylor’s end goal is to become an orthopedic physician’s assistant.
Walter Grishkot Memorial Scholarships for careers in aviation, aeronautics engineering and related Aeronautic careers:
• Elena Kennedy is a graduating senior at South Glens Falls High School who will be studying mechanical engineering at Grove City College in Pennsylvania this fall.
• Sarah Little is a graduate of Queensbury High School. She is currently attending SUNY Adirondack for an associate’s degree in business and attending Freer Ideas Flight School. Sarah is pursuing her goal of becoming an airline pilot.
Honorable Mention:
• Allison Dittrich, is a graduating senior at Queensbury High School who will study aerospace engineering at The University at Buffalo this fall.
